Abstract

Background: AI is revolutionizing clinical pharmacy by improving different elements of medication administration together with patient care. It has already shown significant benefits in its current use and has even more promising uses in upcoming years for the utilization in pharmacy practice of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. However, constant research and experimentation, coupled with broader discussion of the ethical and practical issues, of identifying and solving unusual problems, will define how AI can improve clinical pharmacy at its best.
Aim of work: To explore the current applications of AI in clinical pharmacy, highlighting its impact on medication management, safety monitoring, and clinical decision-making.
Methods: The keywords “AI, Clinical Pharmacy, Current Applications and Future Prospects” were used to conduct a thorough literature search in the MEDLINE database to find relevant publications published between 2020 and 2024. Using the proper search terms, Google Scholar was utilized to find and access pertinent scientific publications. Various inclusion criteria were used to choose which articles to select.
Results: The research included in this study was published from 2020 to 2024. The research included a discussion segment that was broken into many specific elements. Topics covered include Current Applications of AI in Clinical Pharmacy and Future Prospects of AI in Clinical Pharmacy.
Conclusion: The implementation of AI in clinical pharmacy is now revolutionizing the way that pharmacists are practicing. From enhancing medication administration to supporting the growing field of precision medicine, AI’s impact has been felt. Future AI developments therefore promise to provide better patient care, efficiency, and solutions to universal healthcare crises. However, some concerns are worth considering because they raise questions about the ethical, technical, and financial aspects to make the utilization of AI in clinical pharmacy fair and efficient. Thus, by the reasonable usage of AI’s capacities, the representatives of the key profession - clinical pharmacists - can contribute significantly to the formation of the healthcare of the future. These, therefore, warrant combined efforts from healthcare professionals, the developers of AI, and policymakers to unlock the potential of AI in clinical pharmacy.
