Massive Production of Some Economically Important Metabolic Compounds inDunaliella salina. Part III: Growth and Carbohydrate Optimization.

Abstract
The nutrient factors controlling growth and carbohydrate production by Dunaliella salina were statistically analysed. The obtained results indicated that: (i) Dunaliella salina grows better at media having lower sodium chloride concentrations rather than higher ones. (ii) Sodium chloride at high concentrations had a negatively significant effect on carbohydrate production by Dunaliella salina. (iii) Reduction of sodium chloride concentration in the basal medium from 1.25M to 0.75M led to maximum carbohydrate production by Dunaliella salina.
