Objective: To compare the effects of mime therapy using mirror application versus mime therapy alone on facial asymmetry, degree of facial paralysis, and efficacy of treatment in patients with acute Bell’s palsy.
Methodology: This Randomized controlled trial included 26 patients of Bell’s palsy, selected through non-probability convenience sampling, and allocated randomly into experimental (n=13) and control (n=13) groups. The experimental group received mime therapy with a mirror application, while the control group received mime therapy only. Sessions continued for 30 minutes, 4 times a week for 4 weeks. The Sunnybrook, House-Brackmann scales, and Patient Global Impression of Change were used for assessment.
Results: Within-group analysis showed significant improvements in resting symmetry, standard expressions (Sunnybrook scale), degree of facial paralysis, and Patient Global Impression of Change in both control and experimental groups (p
