Evaluation of RBC, MCV, MCH, MCHCRDW, MPV and platelet number in iron deficiency anemia

Abstract


 


Iron deficiency anemia is a common disease in childhood.Major parameters used for diagnosis, are serum iron level (SI), total iron binding cajiasity (T1BC). transferrin saturation (TS). free eritrocyte protoporjinne and serum ferritin I eve! In recent years, economic and practical tests for screening anemia, are recommended. In this study, diagnostic value of RBC. MCI'. MCH. MCIIC. RDW. MPV and PIT in iron deficiency anemia were evaluated. Correlations between these parameters with each other and SI. IIBC. IS were investigated in 54 />atients, 6-24 months of age. In conclusion. MCI' ~5 fl. RDW %l~. and MCH 20 f>g were valuable tests, and MCIIC, MPV and PIT have not diagnostic value in iron deficiency anemia. /.Journal of Turgut Ozal Medical Center 1(3): 185-188, I994/
