GIANT HYDRONEPHROSIS: AN UNUSUAL CAUSE OF INTRAABDOMINAL MASS

Abstract


Giant hydronephrosis is defined as the collection of more than 1 Üter of fluid within renal pelvi-calyceal system. When it exists the kidney and renai peivis can extend across the midiine and may occupy the entire abdomen resu/ting in severai symptoms or may stili remain asymptomatic. The number of giant hydronephrosis cases reported in literatüre is not greater than a few hundreds, thus it remains to be an unusual dinicai picture that has to be noticed. In the present case we report a 23-year-oid woman with giant hydronephrosis presenting with a huge abdominai mass.
