The treatment of psoriasis vulgaris with topical calcipotriol

Abstract


Several treatment modalities have been widely used in psoriasis, regarding to decrease the increased epidermal proliferation. Topical calcipotriol, a vitamin D3 analogue has been recently recommended in the treatment of psoriasis. In this study, the effectiveness of topical calcipotriol was investigated in 20 patients diagnosed as chronic plaque type psoriasis vulgaris. The therapeutic effect of the agent was evaluated with the calculation of PASI scores before and after the treatment of patients who applied calcipotriol twice daily for 8 weeks. Initially, the mean PASI score was 4.05±0.33, whereas after the treatment it was calculated as 0.8810.34. The difference between the PASI scores was found statistically significant (p
