Rubella seropositivity among women of reproductive age in Malatya

Abstract


 


Objective: : To determinated rubella IgG and IgM seropositivity in reproductive women.

Material and method: Rubella IgM and IgG antibodies were determinated by ELISA in the sera of4042 reproductive women, 828pregnant.

Results: Of the 4042 samples, 25 (0.6%) were positive for rubella IgM, 3314 (82.4%) for rubella IgM and 18 (0.4%) for rubella IgM+IgG. Rubella IgM seropositivity was not observed in the pregnant women between eighteen to thirty-five years of age, but rubella IgG seropositivity was faund in 87% of this group.

Conclusion: These results demostrate that the percentage of risk for rubella infection is 18% in reproductive women.
