The Histological Changes Of Mice ileum Treated With 7,12- Dimethylbenz(A)Anthracene And The Protective Effects Of Vitamin E+Selenium And Melatonin

Abstract


 

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the histological changes on the ileum of the mouse (mus musculus) of mouse following 7,12-DMBA treatment and the protective effects of Vit E+Se and melatonin on 7,12-DMBA treated mouse ileum.

Material and Methods: Twenty female mice obtained from Elazığ Animal Research Çenter were used in this study. Animals were divided into four randomized groups. Group I was control , group II was 7,12- DMBA, group III 7,12-DMBA+(Vit E+Se) and group IV DMBA+ melatonin groups . The drugs were applied intraperitoneally. At the end of the eleventh day; samples taken from ileum were embedded in paraf fin, after from routine tissue preparation technique. Sections were stained with; H -E, Grimelius, PAS-alcian blue and aldehyde fuchsin- alcian blue staining methods. Sections were examined by light microscope.

Results: Shortening of villi; edema within the connective tissue of the villi, dilatation of the lumen of the crypts were observed in DMBA group. Many differentiated cells were detected at the base of the crypts. Paneth cell granules were decreased. Shortening of the villi and edema within the conne ctive tissue were not clear in Vit E+Se group. Dilatation of the lumen of the crypts and nuclear differentation were rare in melatonin group.Paneth cells were full of granules

Conclusion: We concluded that both Vit E+Se and melatonin have protective effe cts on 7,12- DMBA treated mice ileal mucosa but melatonin’s effect is more effective.
