The Importance of Regional Cytotoxic Infusion in Treatment of Colorectal Hepatic Metastasis

Abstract


The goals of regional cytotoxic hepatic infusion are to maximize the concentration of chemotherapeutic drugs reaching malignant tumors, to increase tumor cells’ cytotoxic drug uptake and to minimize systemic toxicity. In this paper we have purposed to emphasis the importance and current way of regional hepatic infusion chemotherapy. While some investigators preferred the portal vein for regional chemotherapy in the past, currently, hepatic artery chemotherapy more frequently prefer for regional infusion chemotherapy.
