Internationalizing Ayurveda Research: Wash Me But Don’t Get Me Wet

Abstract

During the last years an increasing number of discussions, forums, blogs and publications have surfaced depicting Ayurveda as a critically endangered medical species, threatened in particular by modern Western developments and globalization. The latest fear-raising stories to unfold portray integrative and complementary medicine as post-colonial allopathic relabeling-conspiracies with the goal to absorb Ayurveda´s crown jewels into a black medical hole of integrative whateverism – without giving credit to Ayurveda.
