In majority of institutions of higher learning in Nigeria, especially in the Colleges of Education, are established to prepare teachers by teaching various courses and subjects in the sciences, social sciences, languages, and educational foundation. Traditionally, courses taught at this level consist of theoretical and practical contents, which necessitate various forms of performance assessments. To evaluate the level of comprehension acquired by students after learning activities; take-home assignments are prepared by the lecturers. Though, marking and evaluating assignments are challenging and laborious tasks for the lecturers. There is the need to improve the efficiency and process of constructing and administering assignments and quizzes. Therefore, this paper develops a students’ assignment submission system for Colleges of Education in Nigeria (a case of Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa). It provides students’ electronic interface for uploading assignments and quizzes, while the lecturers evaluate assignments with status and feedback automatically. The proposed system prototype was developed using HTML, PHP, CSS, MySQL Server, and other Web development tools. The output showed that the proposed system assists students in transmitting assignments speedily, while feedback was readily available. This increases the confidence, comfort and convenience for the students and lecturers in the institutions when compared with manual model of constructing, submitting, and assessing students’ assignments as currently obtains.
