Purpose. This study was planned to determine the information, attitudes and behaviors about traditional and alternative treatment methods of peoples who admitted to the family health centers.
Material and Methods. This study was performed on 1100 people over the age of 18 who applied to four family health centers in central Kayseri in January 2015. A questionnaire including the sociodemographic characteristics and ideas and usage about traditional / alternative medicine were administered to the individuals using face to face interview technique.
Results. In the research group, the rate of hearing about any traditional / alternative medicine methods was 98,4%, the most heard method was herbal treatment (93,3%). 65,8% of participants had used any traditional and alternative medicine method in the past. The most commonly used applications were thermal springs treatment (38,6%) and herbal products / drugs use (37,2%).
