Objective: To assess the prevention of osteoporosis in women by nutraceuticals.
Methodology: This review was conducted for the literature published from 2013 to 2023. After thoroughly analyzing 92 articles, we meticulously extracted relevant information while also evaluating the quality of each source following PRISMA.
Results: The most common cause of osteoporosis was reported the decreased level of estrogen in women and testosterone in men. Many nutraceuticals such as calcium, magnesium, vitamin A, D and E, omega-3-fattyacids, isoflavones, dietary proteins, carotenoids, red clover extract, green tea catechins and Chinese herbal medicines improved bone and musculoskeletal health in post-menopausal osteoporosis.
Conclusion: Nutraceuticals can be used for treating and managing osteoporosis in women. They may have potential of addressing and improving bone health of women.
