Comparison of dusting versus popcorn laser technique in patient undergoing ureteroscopy for ureteric stone

Objective: To compare the efficacy of pop corning and dusting with laser following ureteroscopy for the stone in ureter.
Methodology: This comparative study was performed from 1st July 2022 to 30th June 2023 at Urology department, CMC Larkana. Patients were divided in two groups after informed written consent. In group 1, dusting of stone was performed and in other group pop corning. Patients were followed at two, four and six-week intervals and data were collected and efficacy ot treatment assessed.
Results: Efficacy of dusting was seen in 80 (64%) patients and that of popcorning in 102 (81.6%) patients.
Conclusion: Stone clearance was more effective with pop corning laser ureterorenoscopy than dusting.
