Dry leaves powder water suspension of the plant Furcraea selloa marginata, belonging to family Agavaceae was evaluated against adult Biomphalaria alexandrina. The LC50 and LC90 values after 24 hrs exposure were 53.66 and 84.35 ppm, respectively. The effect of sublethal concentration (LC10= 22.96 ppm) of the tested plant and / or S. mansoni infection actively induced changes in the total lipids, glycogen content, level of glucose, pyruvate kinase and lactate dehydrogenase in tissue and hemolymph of non-infected and S. mansoni–infected B. alexandrina snails at the 4th week post exposure. Comparative analysis of soluble protein of ovotestis and hemolymph of treated snails with sublethal concentration was carried out using SDS-PAGE. Protein analysis showed qualitative and quantitative differences in protein profile with differences in the similarity coefficient "S" values. The quantitative analysis of free-pool amino acids in ovotestis of B. alexandrina snails treated with sublethal concentration showed significant decrease in levels of Alanine, Aspartic, Cystine, Histidine, Isoleucine, Glutamic, Glycine, Leucine, Lysine, Methionine, Proline, and Valine compared with control group. Aspartic, Histidine, Isoleucine, Glutamic, Leucine, Lysine, Methionine, Proline, and Valine decreased in the ovotestis of S. mansoni infected snails treated with F. selloa marginata comared with the control group. F. selloa marginata treatment markedly decreased the hemolymph Alanine, Lysine, and Tyrosine. F. selloa marginata treated-infected group showed a remarkable reduction in the levels of hemolymph Alanine, Aspartic, Histidine, Glycine, Isoleucine, Leucine, Lysine, Methionine, Proline, Serine, and Tyrosine when compared with the control group.
