A TAXONOMIC STUDY ON THE CLICK BEETLE SUBFAMILY CARDIOPHORINAE (COLEOPTERA: ELATERIDAE) IN EGYPT

The Cardiophorinae (Coleoptera: Elateridae) fauna in Egypt has been investigated. A chick list for the genera and species recorded from Egypt are keyed. The subfamily is represented by three genera, Cardiophorus, Craspedostethus and Dichronychus. Cardiophorus is subdivided into three subgenera, Cardiophorus, Paracardiophorus and Perinellus. Cardiophorus is represented by nine species, C. crux, C. thebaicus, C. humilis, C. atripes, C. rufipes, C. demaisoni, C. convexithorax, C. tenellus and C. maurus. Paracardiophorus is represented by two species C. conformis and C. brunneus . Perinellus is represented by four species, C. letourneuxi, C. aegyptiacus, C. pharaonum and C. sinaitus. Craspedostethus is represented by only one species, Craspedostethus dilutus. Dicronychus is represented by four species, D. abyssinus, D. febriens, D. hedenborgi and D. extinctus.
