Due to the fact that practically everything in Nigeria is moved by road, which is the country's primary mode of transportation, the recent spike in petrol prices has had a significant impact on a large number of commuters, including company owners, government employees, and users of public transportation. Since most government employees cannot afford to work every day of the week, several offices have instituted a particular schedule in which employees only come in twice a week. This study will ascertain whether carpooling can be successful as an alternative in Nigeria to make commuting easier for travellers. Carpooling is a service where three or more persons who are often traveling towards the same region share a single vehicle typically at a particular agreed price using Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) as case study, Headquarters, Abuja. A trial of the program will be carried out to identify important aspects involved in using the carsharing service, and FERMA staff members will be given a questionnaire to assess their understanding of carsharing and other parameters governing the carsharing service. The program for carsharing worked perfectly because it saves money. During the trial, the driver was able to save up to 20,000 naira per week compared to what he used to spend. The success of the carsharing service is largely due to its flexibility and convenience, which is why staff members strongly see it as an alternative and recommend it to friends and family.
