Nematological survey study was conducted over a 2-year period (2012-2013) to identify the occurrence and densities of the plant parasitic nematodes associated with different host plants cultivated in Abu-Arish governorate, Jazan province, southwest Saudi Arabia which include, 6 fruit trees, 11 vegetables and field crops and 9 ornamental plants. Total of 679 composite soil and root samples were collected for this survey included; 92 from field crops, 155 from fruit trees, 269 from vegetable crops and 163 from ornamental plants. Sixteen nematode genera were found associated with the rhizosphere soil and root samples of surveyed plants. The root knot nematodes, Meloidogyne spp., were the most prevalent nematode genera with frequency of occurrence (FO) 28.0 - 41.1% and population densities (PD) 192 - 290 Juveniles/250 cm3 soil. Tylenchorhynchus spp. were common with FO 20.0 - 24.0% and 119 - 150 individuals/250 cm3 soil, followed by Helicotylenchus spp., Heterodera spp., Pratylenchus spp. and Xiphinema spp. which present with FO 11.5 - 18.2% and 46 - 97 individuals/250 cm3 soil. Whereas, Aphelenchoides, Aphelenchus, Criconemella, Ditylenchus, Hemicriconemoides, Hoplolaimus, Paratylenchus, Tetylenchus and Tylenchus were less common with FO 2.5 - 11.1% and 8 - 40 individuals/250 cm3 soil in the surveyed soil samples.
