Abstract

Object: Lipomas, which are bening tumors originating from Mesenchyme, are seen in several locations of the body. But they are very rarely reported in parotid gland, especially in deep lobe of parotid gland, and they should be differentiated during diagnosis from other parotid tumors. We aimed to discuss MR imaging findings and make differential diagnosis of parotis lipomas from other parotis tumors.
Case: MR imaging findings of a male patient who applied because of a painless swelling which has been for last two years in his neck.
Results: In cases with parotid gland lesions, in order to plan treatment, it is very important to differentiate external and internal tumors, determine the possible relationship of tumors with facial nerves, and to differentiate bening or malign status of tumors. Imaging methods for diagnosis of lipomas are very valuable.

Key words: Parotid gland, lipoma, magnetic resonance imaging
