Ayurveda and Systems Biology

Bhushan Patwardhan, PhD, FAMS.

Abstract

“Indeed, the human body is much more than the sum of
its parts, and life relies upon this total function, not just
on the function of individual body parts in isolation from
the others.” Guyton and Hall, Textbook of Medical
Physiology, 12th Edition, 2011
The excerpt from preface from the most popular text book
of medical physiology by Guyton and Hall clearly indicates
how thinking in mainstream biology is moving towards
holistic approaches. The new recognition of systems
approach in biology may have significant impact on health,
wellness, diseases, therapeutics and future health care.

Key words: Ayurveda , Systems Biology
