Exploring transformative role of virtual reality technology in nursing education and patient care: A narrative review

Abstract

This review delves into the dynamic field of virtual reality technology and its profound impact on nursing education and patient care. It examines the current applications of technology in nursing education, including its role in enhancing clinical skills acquisition, promoting critical thinking, and improving decision-making abilities. The review also explores the utilization in patient care settings, such as its potential for immersive patient simulations, therapeutic interventions, and pain management. Furthermore, it discusses the future possibilities and emerging trends in technology, including the integration of artificial intelligence and haptic feedback systems. This review aims to shed light on the transformative potential of virtual reality technology in nursing, highlighting its implications for improving education, enhancing patient outcomes, and shaping the future of healthcare.
