Spiral fracture of temporal bone in an adult

Abstract

Compound fractures are open fractures resulting from high impact trauma they are associated with significant underlying brain parenchymal injury, generally they have multiple components. We encountered an unique morphology of compound fracture in 39 yr old male patient where one of the component of the fracture was wavy/Spiral as for our knowledge this is the first case report documenting such finding, 3D volume rendered CT scan images helped us in defining morphology of this compound fracture.
