OPENNESS AND THE EFFECTS OF MONETARY POLICY ON INFLATION: AN APPLICATION

This paper assesses the relationship between openness and the effectiveness of monetary policy on inflation by using annual data for the 19902000 period for a panel of 42 countries. The paper's empirical results support the theoretical predictions that the more open the economy is the larger the inflation effects of a given change in the money supply.
