Keeping up with the healthcare transformation: a review and research agenda for a new decade of health information system in Saudi Arabia

Abstract

In the modern world, technology has permeated every aspect of life and been integrated into it. This review intends to provide an overview of the Saudi Arabian healthcare system’s transformation through information technology and to analyze the implications of doing so. The online databases PubMed, Science Direct, Cochrane Library, Google Scholar, and BioMed Central were used to perform a literature search for publications without any date or language restrictions. The keywords used in the search involved IT, E-health, New technology, Transformation, Health sector, Development, Impact, Digital revolution, Quality, Efficient, Crowd, Management, Reducing, Telemedicine, Urbanization, Development, Health industry, and Robots. The Saudi government places a high premium on healthcare. Hence, innovative technology has been implemented to transform health care. The use of new technology in the Saudi Arabian healthcare system can improve the effectiveness and standard of patient treatment.
