Study Of Impact Of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (Rusa) On Gross Enrolment Ratio (Ger) In Higher Educational Institutions Of Rural And Urban Areas Of Jammu & Kashmir

Abstract

Education is the most powerful tool for the progress of a society. Especially, the higher education plays a major and significant role in this respect. In the 12th Five Year Plan, Ministry of Human Resource Development Govt. of India launched its one of the ambitious programs to revamp the higher education sector in the country called asRashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) – National Higher Education Mission. The need of the RUSA was to improve the access, equity and excellence in the higher education system and to compete with fast global changes. The intent of this study is to find out the impact of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) on the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in higher educational institutions of rural and urban areas of Jammu & Kashmir. The data was collected through a self-developed enrolment data blank as well as obtained from various published papers and reports published by MHRD and UGC. The survey method which comes under the type of descriptive research was used forthe study.The findings of the study revealed the positive impact of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) on Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in higher educational institutions of rural and urban areas of Jammu & Kashmir.
