Abstract:
Menstruation is a cyclic physiological event which characterizes womenhoodbut at times it troubles women in terms of Artavakshaya, Atyartava, Kastartava, Raktapradaraetc… Artavakshaya is one among them, which is becoming more common in this age of modernization due to faulty food habits, life style, stress etc.Artavakshaya is mainly due to avarana of doshaslikeKapha or Kapha-Vata. So, for removing this avarana& to achievevriddi of artava by increasing its Agneyaguna in women, a trial of Vamana karma followed by administration of Agneyagunayuktadravyas is undertaken.
Materials & Methods:
Patients were selected according to inclusion & exclusion criteria and are divided in 2 equal groups of 15 each & findings were recorded after each cycle.
Group A(Trial Group) : 15 patients were administered with Vamanakarma at 1st cycle followed by use of Agneyadravyavati for 3 cycles.
Group B(Control Group) : 15 patients were treated with known standard drug Rajapravartinivati for 3 consecutive cycles.
Result & Interpretations:
All patients responded to the given trial treatment without any complications. The trial Vamana Group showed highly significant result as it removes the root cause & the correcting the symptoms by their properties, where control group drug gives only symptomatic relief.
Conclusion:
The trial treatment does both Avarananirharana& then the Agneyagunavriddi, whereas the control drug does only Agneyagunavriddi. Hence the trial treatment is considered as better remedy for the management of Artavakshaya.
