Pakistan’s Geo-Strategic Location: Prospects For Political And Economic Gains

Abstract

Pakistan is a country that has an abundance of natural resources. It is a country which has all the weather. Pakistan’s location can earn tremendous economic benefits but more than seven decades of independence what are the reasons that the country is still dependent on outside aid and loans for its running. Over the years, the loans have multiplied and so is the debt. Every leader comes to the office on the premise of freeing the country from the vicious circle of loans and debts, but these promises remain mere rhetoric. Every new Prime Minister takeshigher loans than his predecessor and hence subjecting the country to ever-increasing conditionalities of the donor countries and organizations. Using the rational choice theory, this research, therefore, evaluates the reasons why Pakistan has not been able to take advantage of its location and resources and highlights the prospects for political and economic gains.
