Frequency of intestinal parasite in Muzaffargarh and associated risk factors

Abstract

Objectives: To determine frequency of common intestinal parasite in district Muzaffar Garh, Pakistan and associated risk factors.
Methodology: Stool samples were examined using normal saline, iodine preparation and Formalin ethyl-acetate concentration technique.
Results: Out of total 143 patients, 33 (23.07%) were found positive for intestinal parasitic infections. The commonest parasite detected was E. histolytica followed by Ascaris lumbricoides, Ancylostoma duodenale and Giardia lamblia. Age, educational status, socio-economic status (P
