Primary gastric choriocarcinomas, on the other hand, have been rarely reported in the literature, mostly as mixed type carcinomas associated with gastric adenocarcinomas. Primary gastric choriocarcinomas constitute approximately 0.08% of all gastric cancers. Their prognosis is worse than gastric adenocarcinomas. In most cases, the detected cases are metastatic or locally advanced. Diagnosis with endoscopic biopsies is difficult. The diagnosis is usually made when the surgical specimens are examined.
