Studies on different traits of Bakerwali goat under various colour pattern and sex at birth

Abstract

Goat rearing is very important for the rural population of Jammu and Kashmir(UT). The Gujjar and Bakerwals tribes usually rearing of goats for milk, meat, hair and other livestock products. Under various colour pattern,black white goat showed highest body weight,body length,chest girth, while ear length and tail length was highest in grey and white at birth.The lowest body weight, body length, chest girth, ear length and tail length was observed in brown colour goat. The male showed higher body weight, body length, chest girth, ear length and tail length but lower coefficient of variation except body length than female. This information may guide for future breeding and management practices.
