IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY ECOSYSTEM ON MOBILE DEVICE ADOPTION – A MANAGEMENT STRATEGY PERSPECTIVE

Abstract
Adoption of a new technology is dependent upon multiple drivers or factors which are studied and
used by organizations to improve upon their products and features. Adoption of technology such as a mobile
device could be the same. There are multiple factors in selection and adoption of a mobile device which are
price, look and feel, ease of use, Operating System, Availability of apps and many more. Few of these could be
combined into what is called a Technology Ecosystem or TEco. The components of a Technology Ecosystem
could be the OS, sales, aftersales, apps marketplace, screen resolution and others which are important for a
mobile user. The importance of these TEco components might vary from user to user. As part of this research
paper the impact of Apps marketplace as one of the adoption factors is studied and results analyzed to
understand it.

These results could be used by companies that are into creation and management of apps
marketplace to know the importance of it so that they are create better used apps marketplace. The paper will
also discuss other factors which are impacting the adoption of mobile devices and the findings could be used by
mobile device manufacturing companies to improve the respective features as well as in maintain the
Technology Ecosystem for improved adoption and better financial performance of the organization.
