Level of stress and its association with socio demographic factors among undergraduate physiotherapy students of the University of Lahore

Abstract

Objective: To determine the level of stress and its association with socio-demographic factors among undergraduate physiotherapy students of Lahore, Pakistan.
Methodology: This study cross sectional study included 239 regular students of physiotherapy in the undergraduate program from different medical institutes of Lahore. We used the Student Stress assessment exam to determine their stress level and its association with socio-demographic factors.
Results: Out of 239 students, 127 were male and 112 females; 112 were married, and 127 unmarried. Females had more stress levels as compared to males. Marital status, age, and CGPA were statistically significant (p=0.005) with stress level.
Conclusion: Demographic factors play an essential role in one's mental health. Stress was highly associated with demographic factors of students. Age, gender and low CGPA can cause high-stress levels among students.
