G. I. Onwuka, R.V. K. Singh and A. I. Umar.

Abstract

A study of hypertension cases in North Western Nigeria was carried out, using Kebbi State as a case study. The study aims at investigating the relationship between some risk factors in the treatment and management of hypertension. A sample of 200 patients was obtained from Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, Birnin-Kebbi. Log-linear modeling was applied to the data for analysis. The result showed that males ages affected by the disease are mostly 40 years and above due to some factors identified by this study although generally females of lesser ages are mostly affected. Adequate recommendations were however made to reduce the effect of the disease.

Key words: Age, Epidemiology, Hypertension, Risk factors, Log-Linear, Model.
