A SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW OF ETHICAL AND SOCIAL ISSUES RELATED TO INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AMONG STUDENTS IN MALAYSIA

Abstract
The importance and concern of ethical and social issues have been identified in the field of
Computer Science and Information Technology (IT). Therefore, the aim of this study is to review the researches
done on ethical and social issues related to IT for the years 2015 to 2020 using Systematic Literature Review
(SLR) approach. The result indicated that ethical issues such as privacy, accuracy, property, and accessibility;
and social issues namely, cyberbullying, online gaming, internet addiction, and online sex activities are the
main issues discussed in IT field. The most recent topics on ethical and social issues in IT among students are
internet addiction and cyberbullying. The result also revealed that there is a little discussion on ethical and
social issues in IT towards students and on how the issues could influence by other factors, for example moral
judgment, subjective norms, gender, and cultural background. This finding can be the guideline and reference
for future research in identifying the problems related with ethical and social issues in using IT, and giving
some appropriate recommendations to overcome the identified problems.
