Polymerization shrinkage is decrease in volume of the resin during and after polymerization
reaction,this shrinkage creates polymerization stresses as high as 13MPa between composite and tooth structure.
These stresses severely strain the interfacial bond between the composite and the tooth, leading to a very small
gap that can allow marginal leakage of saliva. This stress can exceed the tensile strength of enamel and results in
stress cracking and enamel fractures along the interfaces. Different strategies are developed for managing
shrinkage stress of resin composite including the use of liners, restoration with incremental technique,
