Investigating the Effect of Social Change on Values Based on Social Studies Teachers’ Views

Abstract

The aim of this study is to reveal the opinions of Social Studies teachers about the relationship between social change and values. The qualitative model was used because of the opinions of teachers about the effect of social change on values. In this direction, phenomenology pattern was used in the research. Open-ended interview questions consisting of 4 items, which were prepared for the purpose of examining the opinions of Social Studies teachers on the effects of social change on values, were used as data collection tool. The study group of the study consisted of 20 teachers who were chosen in different ways and in different state schools according to the maximum diversity sampling within the purposive sampling method. As a result of the study, social studies teachers emphasized that the effect of social change on values is negative.
