Disabled Adolescence: The Views of Mothers about Puberty and Their Problems

Abstract

Aim of current study is to reveal the problems that mothers of disabled adolescents face via their views. In current study, interview technique one of the dimensions of qualitative method was used. Participants of study, consist of 15 mothers of adolescents with one or more mental, hearing or visually impairment. Participants were chosen via purposeful sampling and with this sampling it was aimed to reveal the problems in details and deeply. In data analysis, descriptive and content analysis were used. Four themes were created related to findings of study and they are developmental features, personal life, social environment and attitudes toward child/recommendations respectively. Regarding created themes, categories were determined. Results were discussed and suggestions were given.
