An Overview of the Brain Imaging Techniques from the Education Perspective

Abstract

Brain imaging techniques provide information to the researchers about the structure and the operation of the brain. With this research, it was aimed to gain educators a different point of view regarding to the brains imaging techniques’ contribution to the education. The brain imaging techniques were grouped into three categories as structural, functional and metabolic. In this research the techniques used in brain imaging have been introduced with the help of literature and brain imaging examples conducted at different fields (mathematics, music, reading and linguistic skill) have been presented. It was also assumed that brain imaging techniques could also be used in education and this could contribute educators to understand how learning occurs and determine the learning difficulties.
