Study of Validity and Reliability of Scale of Attitude towards Scientific Research

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to develop an inventory in order to detect the attitude of pre-service
teachers toward scientific research. Sample group is composed of 713 students for first application, 372 students for
second. In the process of developing the inventory first of all a literature review was conducted and studied on similar
scales. A pool of 68 items was prepared with the help of information from literature and contributions of professionals.
Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses and item discrimination power were calculated to provide the validity of
the inventory. In order to determine the reliability of the inventory; level of internal consistency and stability level were
calculated. As a result, it can be said that this scale is a valid and reliable inventory that can be used in the detection of
attitude of pre-service teachers toward scientific research.
