A Case Study on the Graduate Students’ Multiple Intelligence Types

Abstract

This article is aimed to examine the multiple intelligence types of graduate students pursuing their
degrees at the Secondary Science and Mathematics Education and Secondary Social Education main fields
connected to Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) Graduate School of Natural Science and Social Science. For
this purpose, “Multiple Intelligence Self Evaluation Scale” developed by Seber (2001) was modified and used as a
data collection tool. The sample of the study was comprised of total 290 graduate students educated at the programs
of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics Education in Secondary Science and Mathematics Education
Field; History, Geography, Turkish Language and Literature in Secondary Social Education Field. According to the
results, multiple intelligence areas of graduate students have mostly developed at medium and advanced level. The
distribution of the intelligence types of the graduate students have also changed based on their areas.
