Mihriban Hacısalihoğlu Karadeniz.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to present an alternative method to reaching mathematical acquisitions with the help of “paper folding method” in mathematics education and introduce models to be used by preservice teachers in their field education courses and teachers in their interclass applications. In this context, mathematical models are presented for the purpose of setting an example to the teaching of many acquisitions in the curriculum via paper folding method. Thus, present and future mathematics teachers will have the opportunity of using mathematical models in their classes. In other words, it is intended to raise awareness in preservice teachers to use this method in mathematics teaching before the service and teachers during the service. In addition to this, activities that are performed via paper folding method should primarily be aimed at revealing the mathematical acquisitions and teaching mathematics. In the contrary case, activities that are performed via paper folding method may only be limited with having a good time. Besides, this course which is conducted as an elective course in some faculties of education should be made more attractive. In conclusion, paper-folding method is thought to be convenient for teaching acquisitions and mathematical concepts in mathematics courses or maintaining the concepts that are learned.
