Analysis of Human Rights, Citizenship and Democracy Course Book in Terms of Constructivism

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze 4th grade Human Rights, Citizenship and Democracy course book which has been put into practice since 2015-2016 academic years and 4th grade human rights, citizenship and democracy curriculum in terms of constructivist approach. In this study in which qualitative methods were used, the data was collected with document analysis from 4th grade human rights, citizenship and democracy course book and the curriculum. The obtained data was analysed with content analysis. It was determined that the acquisitions mentioned in the curriculum were on receiving, responding, valuing and organization verbs of Krathwohl’s affective domain taxonomy. It was determined that the acquisitions are transmitted to the students only through discussion technique based on the reading texts and the questions of these reading texts in the units and subjects of the course book.
