Usability Views of Stakeholders on Online Monitoring and Assessment of Reading Activities

Abstract

The general objective of this research is to determine stakeholders’ opinions on the usability of the system (KİTaS) which was developed for suggesting, monitoring and evaluating book reading activities of middle school students. Within this framework KİTaS was used in one of the middle school where is located in downtown, Çanakkale for two months (06.04.2015 – 12.06.2015) in 2014 – 2015 spring term. This research was designed within survey model. After implementation, views about usability indicators which is effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction has been collected from stakeholders which is students, teachers and parents. Surveyed six teacher and eight student accepted the interview. Open ended survey was distributed all parents and 17 survey was turned back. In conclusion participants indicated that “recommendation” stage of KİTaS recommended convenient books for students’ interest and level. And also they think that “evaluation” stage of KİTaS facilitated book comprehension. Monitoring reading activities on online platforms has facilitated that students’ self-assessment.
