Teachers’ Opinions about the Effectiveness of Science Course to Have Students Acquire Scientific Attitude and Behavior in Elementary School

Abstract

One of the fundamental aims of the Science Course, one of the main courses in primary education, is to make students scientifically curious, to improve their scientific attitude and skills, and to convert them into behavior. In this survey, it was aimed to determine teachers’ opinions about the effectiveness of the Science Course while having students acquire scientific attitude and behavior in primary education. The survey data were collected through semi-structured interviews. The findings of the survey revealed that 11 of the teachers found the Science Course effective and sufficient to have the students, scientific attitude and behavior, whereas 6 of the teachers did not agree on. Additionally, it was obtained that the teachers had some troubles in practice.
