The Methods of Assessment and Evaluation In Multi-Disiplinary Art Education: Bolu City Sample

Abstract

Teachers, students and researhcers who are involved with art education which is complex and has many aspects tell that they have had some problems about the evaluation and assessment. In Turkey, there aren’t any established systems and progressed criteria about this subject at art education. Therefore, the aim of this research is to determine the importance of assessment and evaluation in art education to set down certain quidelines for evaluation and assessment and to suggest an applicable practice. With the participation of art criticisim, history of art and aesthetics to the art education which has psychomotor and affective characteristics, it has also started to have some cognitive characteristics within the multidisciplinary curriculum. Teachers have had to assess and evaluate objectively and scientifically against the criteria within this expanded curriculum. Since the curriculum has changed, the students’ experiences, teachers will have to change the methods with which they teach, learn and assess their students performances.
