The Opinion of Primary School Students on Social Studies Course

Abstract

In recent years, the interest towards qualitative research has increased in our country and it is desired to conduct studies in particularly social science fields by using qualitative methods. In content analysis, which is a qualitative research method, the main aim is to reach the concepts and relations that may explain gathered data. This study aims to throw a light the truth hidden in the data by using content analysis. In order to find out the attitudes, thoughts and expectations towards social studies course, the students were asked to reply three open-ended questions and their answers were analyzed with content analysis method. At the end of the study, it is found that the attitudes of the students towards social studies course are based on teacher qualifications. The other results are mentioned in the study in detail.
