This study aims to evaluate the effects of FTO gene polymorphism (rs17817449andrs1588413) as predictor/ risk factors of type 2 diabetes mellitus in obese Iraqi population. Four hundred obese participants clinically diagnosed with type 2 diabetes were enrolled in this study. A similar matching group of obese non-diabetic control group was also included in this study.
