Results of Obturatory Bypass Procedures

Abstract

Obturatory bypass procedure asa means of extraanatomical intervention is indicated in cases where the applicati­ on of graft anastomosis is risks, or impossible due to infection, aneurysm, travma or tumor in the femoral region. The early obturatory bypass operation were performed in 1966 by Mahoney and Whelan on femoral mycotic aneurysms with success.
22 Obturatory bypass rases, operated in the lstanbul Medical Faculty Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Depart­ ment between 1972-1994 have been reviewed retrospectively on the basis of surgical indications complications and results and it has been included that long term patency rates are quite similar to anatomical bypass.
