Cholesterol Profile in Atherosclerotic Peripheral Vascular DlseaseŞükrü Dilege, Murat Kayabalı, Fatih Ata Genç, Yılmaz Başar, Metin Özgür. Abstract | | | | Cholesterol profile in atherosclerotic peripheral vascular disease was evaluated in 90 patients far whom elective surgery was performed in lstanbul Medical Faculty, Department of General Surgery, Peripheral Vascular Unit in 1992. Patients having aneurysms were excluded. Six of the patients were female (6.7 %) and 84 were male (93.3 %). Young est was 40 and oldest was 83 years old (mean 54.3 years). 55 of the patients (61 %) had aortoiliac and 35 (39 %) had femoropopliteal occlusive disease. Female patients were non smokers but 88 % of the males were heavy smokers. Cholesterol level was over 260 % mgr in 4 patients, over 200 % mgr in 20 patients. Triglyceride level was high in 30 cas es (33.3 %) and HDL level was under 30 % mgr in 22 cases (24.4 %) and between 30-35 % mgr in 13 patients (14.4 %). LDL level was high in 3 cases (3.3 %) and VLOL level was high in 26 patients (28.8 %).
