Anxiolytic and antidepressant-like effect of the ethanolic extract of Cassia tora seed in Swiss mice

Abstract

Background: Cassia tora is a traditional herbal medicine has been used as an antihyperlipidemic, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, expectorant, antioxidant effect, etc. Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the anxiolytic and antidepressant effect of hydro-alcohol extract of Cassia tora in Swiss mice. Methods: Hydro-alcohol extract of Cassia tora was used for the evaluation of antidepressant, anxiolytic, biochemical estimation, skeletal muscle relaxant, and anoxic tolerance test.
